Firecrawl and Prefetch overlap on web data: scrape, map, crawl, batch scrape, search and monitors work much the same way, down to the endpoint names. The difference is scope. Firecrawl goes deeper on the web, with browser interaction, an agent and document parsing. Prefetch adds company data: brand, company details, industry, merchants and logos.
Compared with Firecrawl’s public documentation as of November 2026.

At a glance

Credits for the same work

Both price web data in credits, and many costs line up. A credit isn’t the same price on each, so compare plans as well. Prefetch never charges a failed request, and charges crawls and batches only for pages returned. See Credits.

Defaults that differ

  • Caching: Firecrawl serves pages cached up to 2 days by default. Prefetch fetches live unless you set max_age.
  • Parameters: Firecrawl uses camelCase, and Prefetch uses snake_case.
  • Errors: Prefetch errors carry error_code and retryable, so code can decide whether to retry.

When Firecrawl is the better fit

  • You need to click, fill forms or log in before you read a page.
  • You need to parse local documents, or redact personal data.
  • You want an official SDK in your language, or to self-host.
  • You need a SOC 2 report today.

When Prefetch is the better fit

  • You need web data and company data, without a second vendor or a second balance.
  • You show companies in your product and want logos, colors, industry and merchant names.
  • You want monitor alerts by email as well as webhook.
