/classify reads a website and assigns it an IAB Content Taxonomy category. Everything sits under data.classification, the same key /enrich uses:
  • Category and subcategory: for example Business › Business Software
  • Descriptions: a short description, a one-line tagline and a longer summary
  • Stock tickers and ISINs: for public companies
Static pages are read with a fast fetch. A real browser is used only when the page needs JavaScript to show its content. It’s the cheapest way to answer “what kind of business is this?”, for example to score leads against your ideal customer profile.

IAB IDs

iab_id and iab_parent_id use the IAB Content Taxonomy 1.0 ID format. The parent is a category, and the child adds a hyphen and a number:
  • IAB3: the parent category (Business)
  • IAB3-4: the subcategory (Business Software)
Common parent categories include IAB3 (Business), IAB4 (Careers), IAB13 (Personal Finance) and IAB19 (Technology & Computing).
