Add a goal, one plain sentence about what you want to be told, and every changed, new or removed page is judged against it:
Each judged page gets is_meaningful and a judgment with a reason. Pages ruled not meaningful are still recorded on the check, but they don’t send a webhook or an email.
Judging is on whenever a goal is set. Pass judge_enabled: false to keep the goal without judging. The first check’s baseline is never judged.

Writing a good goal

  • Restate the scope: “the Pro plan”, “the top 10 results”, “API changes”.
  • Name exclusions only when they matter: “Ignore changes to customer logos.”
  • Ask for what you want, even if it’s usually noise. If the goal asks about a timestamp or a counter, it gets it. If it says to ignore something, that thing never counts.

How the judge works

  • Page content is treated as data, never as instructions. Text on a page can’t talk the judge out of an alert.
  • On a long diff, the judge reads the parts most relevant to your goal, not just the first ones.
  • meaningful_changes quote the page exactly. A quote the judge wasn’t shown is dropped.
  • A page that flips back to a version it has shown before isn’t judged again. The earlier verdict is reused, for free.

Credits

Each judged page costs 1 credit. Only changed, new and removed pages are judged, and only when the monitor has a goal. See Limits and credits.

Changing the goal

Send a new goal with PATCH /monitor/{id}, or null to stop judging and hear about every change. Try a new goal straight away with POST /monitor/{id}/run.
